A Customer's email after a trip:
Dear Dan & Penny,
Just a quick note to thank you for making the arrangements for our drift boat trip on the East Outlet Thursday. Our group has done three trips over the past several years on both the Kennebec and Penobscot rivers and have had Ian, Mike, John, and Chad for one or more of each. It is a nice feeling to know that when we book a trip with the Maine Guide Fly Shop, the guides will be professional, courteous and fun to be with (plus great cooks!). They all work hard to give us the opportunity to catch fish and each trip is a learning experience.

Drift Boat Service
Spend a day fly fishing from a drift boat on one
of our landlocked salmon & brook trout rivers, the West Branch of
the Penobscot or the East Outlet of the Kennebec River. Your guide
will maneuver the drift boat to pools and eddies inaccessible to
the wading fisherman. Drift boat fishing allows you to cast from
a standing position even in heavy water. Our guides are expert casters
and will assist you with instruction and technique. Trip includes
a shore lunch and gear. $350 for one / $400 for two
Smallmouth Bass
Try a day or two fly fishing some of our region's most scenic spots for smallmouth bass. Your guide will take you where the air is fresh and the fish are big and plentiful. More often than not we are fishing with surface bugs. Pound for pound a small- mouth is one of Maine's best fighting freshwater gamefish. Osprey, eagles, deer and moose are often spotted. A great way to spend a day. Trip includes a shore lunch and gear. $350 a day for one or two people
Remote Pond Float Tubing
If you have never spent a relaxing day fly fishing from a float tube, here is a great opportunity. We'll provide the float tubes, knowledge and necessary gear you will need. The Moosehead Lake Region has countless small remote ponds loaded with native brookies. You'll be nestled in a float tube as comfortable as your easy chair while you cast to wild trout. We often see moose and deer feeding along the shore and in the pond. What could be nicer. Lunch and gear included. $300 per day for one / $350 for two.
Fall Landlocked Salmon Fishing
Enjoy some of your September fishing time fly fishing one of Maine's best salmon rivers, the Upper West Branch of the Penobscot below Hanibal's Crossing. Accessible only by canoe, some of the best fall salmon water awaits you. By twenty foot canoe, we haul a tent camp eight miles downstream and set-up amoung some of the best pools on the river. The food's great, not what you might expect in the back country. It's fly fishing only, where the salmon hit hard and jump often. Fall colors, a campfire and good friends make for a trip people take again and again. $250 per day per person. Three day minimum.
October on the East Outlet
Join us on an overnight drift boat trip on the East Outlet of the Kennebec. We'll be fishing the late run of salmon entering the river on their annual spawning run. You'll spend two days with your guide in his drift boat running the 3 1/2 mile river fly fishing over salmon and brookies. Some of the largest fish of the season, all in spectacular spawning colors, will be caught during these cool fall days. We'll have our wall tents all set-up for a very comfortable stay during these cool fall nights. We'll bring lots of food and do all the cooking. Our outfitters tents are spacious and warm complete with cots and wood stove. Fabulous fall foilage, a leaping salmon, a campfire and the sky full of stars will leave you wanting more. Included in your two day adventure is transportation, lodging, meals, guide and drift boat, plus gear and lots of memories. $500 per person
Maine Muskies
Join us in the spring or in the fall for a wonderful trip into the St. John River drainage to Battle muskies with your fly rod or spinning tackle.
Considered to be the fish of a thousand casts in
most places, Maine has some of the best action anywhere. We have
been averaging four to eight fish a day on flies and lures.
We will spend two days and one night camping in remote Maine where we see more moose, deer and eagle than people. Accessible only by 4-wheel drive or float plane. We'll bring the gear and food and do all the cooking. Spring is spawning season for muskies. We fish the shallow marshy areas with flies and lures where the muskies go to spawn. The strikes are furious and surface fishing at its best. Fall brings the muskie back to the shallows prowling the shoreline searching for an easy meal. The leaves are turning and the scenery is spectacular. Moose frequent the area foraging for the last of the water plants.
Cost: $500 per person / two people minimum
Includes: 2 days guided fishing, 1 night camping and meals &
land transportation from Greenville
Float plane fly-in arrangements are available at an extra cost.
50% deposit required to confirm all reservations.
